Good things take time. Great things take a little longer.
I think we all know that. But the concept of divine timing goes beyond that.
The idea behind divine timing is that all major events, changes, and transformations in your life are somehow predetermined.
Or, although not predetermined, they will only occur, they will only be given to you, at the right time — when they are supposed to happen.
What is divine timing?
Divine timing is the force which sets the time you will experience all major events in your life. Divine timing means that you will only meet the right people, be in the right place, take the right decisions at the right time.
Do you believe divine timing is real? If so, there are two possible causes, or explanations:
- There is this thing we like to call destiny, or fate, which somehow controls when and how we will experience certain events or transformations in our life, even when we think we control those
- God, or the universe, will not give you anything unless you are ready for it; you will only reach your goals and dreams once your energy matches them, once you are them
I don’t think any of these could ever be proven scientifically. However, the second explanation has to do with basic psychology.
If our inner and outer world are interconnected, and reflect each other, then how could you ever reach a goal (in the outer world) that doesn’t align with your inner world?
If your attitude, knowledge, mindset are not tuned into whatever you want to experience or achieve, you’ll miss it; what you chase will elude you.
Divine timing and retrocausality
Here’s another interesting concept that may help you understand divine timing — the concept of retrocausality.
Event A (in the past or present) leads to event B (in the future). The past or present moment will shape or influence the future. I think we all agree on this.
Now, what if A and B could be reversed? What if a certain event in the future (that’s supposed to happen in the future) has the power to shape or influence an event in the past?
If you imagine time as an endless road, or river, that already exists, that has already been created (by a force or entity, or by pure randomness)…
And if you imagine us human beings as entities that do nothing but travel on that road — without the awareness that the future, the part of the road that’s in front of us, already exists, even though we don’t yet see it…
Then divine timing is nothing but the series of events that already exist on the road we are traveling on.
And our aim shouldn’t be to make them happen, to create them, but rather to embrace them, to surrender to them, to drive in the right direction.

As long as we are persistent in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.
Denis Waitley
If you attempt certain things at the right time, they are easy to accomplish. In fact, they almost get done by themselves. If you undertake them before the time is right, not only will they fail, but they will often become impossible to accomplish even when the time is right.
Francesco Guicciardini

The idea that we could control the course of our lives through rational choices was as absurd as a fish trying to control the ocean in which it swam.

I can control my destiny, but not my fate. Destiny means there are opportunities to turn right or left, but fate is a one-way street. I believe we all have the choice as to whether we fulfill our destiny, but our fate is sealed.

Do you believe in divine timing?
Do you find that you tend to reach certain goals only “at the right time” — only when you’re the type of person that aligns to them?
Have you ever met a special person, the right person, and did that seem to happen at precisely the right time? As if it wasn’t just a coincidence?
Or, do you believe in fate, or predestination, in which case we have virtually no control over everything we experience in life (though we may still choose how to react to it)?
