Your uniqueness is your greatest asset.

Honor your uniqueness — don’t fight it. Be yourself and follow your heart.

You were born to stand out, so why conform? You have your own strengths, so why focus on the weaknesses?

Your greatest threat here is the cycle of comparison. If you look outside, you can only lose. You have to look inside instead.

Have you ever noticed that when people compare themselves to others they only look for things they don’t have, or don’t like about themselves?

You want to consciously remind yourself that you are perfect the way you are, and that any type of change or personal growth has to be true to your essence.

Being normal is overrated

The goal is to keep people normal. But normality is not enough (…). It means the normal routine of life and your capacity to cope with it. It does not give you meaning, it does not give you significance. It does not give you insight into the reality of things.

Each of us has strengths and weaknesses — traits and inclinations that make us excel at something, and on the flip side, negative traits we may want to work on.

The tragedy of society is being obsessed with normality to the point where the positive traits are suppressed or hidden, and the negative traits are given too much importance.

Pressure to conform (at any age) can make us forget about how special and powerful we are, and spend way too much time worrying about what we lack.

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Happiness is what makes you happy. Success is what success means to you. And to grow means to allow the true you to flourish, freely and unapologetically.

Being you is your superpower

The only way to truly excel at something is to invest your time and energy in it and have traits others lack.

If hard work alone was the key to success, then what about all those who work really hard yet only get average results?

Sure — life’s complexity, luck and bad luck, the environment you grow up in — all these things play a role and can either turbocharge or hinder your growth.

The point I am making is, each of us has some kind of “unfair advantage” i.e. innate capacity, and the smarter approach is to go all-in on that rather than model someone else.

What is your unfair advantage, then? Again, you have to look inside. You have to look at your nature, your essence, what you are drawn to, what makes you smile and gives you joy regardless of others’ opinions.

That’s your superpower. Use it. Don’t listen to those who are too busy trying to become normal. Listen to your heart and be busy being you.
