Breaking news: what you want — your dreams, desires, a certain experience, the things you are chasing in life — can already be yours right now.

That is, if you change your mindset and allow yourself to experience all these things in the present moment, rather than seeing them as distant or even unreachable.

Sounds too good to be true? It doesn’t have to be. But do be aware that the “allowing” or “embracing” part turns out to be really difficult for some of us.

You need to dig deep and work on your mindset daily to achieve the state where you calmly and confidently see yourself as the person who has what he/she wants.

The more your current goals seem unreachable, the more work you’ll need to work on your mindset. A single affirmation won’t do the trick. Reading this post alone won’t do the trick.

Can you have what you want right now in the inner world? To then see it in the outer, physical world — a day, month, or year from now? Mind you, you have to be consistent. But that’s more or less how it works.

What you want is actually a feeling

  • What if the person who found the most amazing partner already had the feeling of being loved before they even met them?
  • What if the person who became successful already had the feeling of success years before they achieved anything?
  • What if the person who became healthy and free from addictions could feel that way when they were still at their lowest?

Notice the pattern — change that starts within. Before all the hard work, before any visible process or results.

I am not going to argue that all types of transformative change take place in the mind. This isn’t a law by any means. But look around you and you’ll find that it’s the way things tend to work.

All you could ever want and desire is nothing but a feeling. You may say you want a specific person, item, or even an experience, but that’s secondary.

Fundamentally, anything you want is a feeling. Guess what: feelings are free. Picture an intense image in your mind, one that triggers a strong emotion. Then feel the emotion.

How long did it take? Probably a few seconds. Make the images as vivid and as real as you can, through intense focus and visualization, and you’ll basically experience them.

Yes, it’s a lot easier to feel loved when you actually have a loving partner. Yes, it’s easier to feel freedom and independence when you actually are financially stable. And so on.

But the point is, the end result or condition is still nothing but a feeling. Really think about this until it sinks in.

Be, then have (not vice versa)

Awareness of the feeling you are looking for gives you power and moves you closer to what you want, for two main reasons:

  • If all you want is a feeling, then the experience itself loses importance or even value. But this is a good thing because it removes any potential anxiety or stress linked to the experience. Whereas the experience itself may be hard to achieve, the feeling of it could only be a few seconds away.
  • If certain feelings can “attract” or lead to certain actions and/or experiences, then you can start from the feeling itself and work backwards. In other words, feel (be) now and then have, rather than desperately trying to have, then feeling (being).

Ever heard of the be, do, have model? It basically teaches that you first have to become (be), then act (do), and only then experience (have) what you want in the physical world.

So for example, one who wants wealth and abundance should start feeling wealthy right now so they can then act the same way a wealthy person would act, and only then see results.

Notice how the beginning — the first cause — isn’t even an action, but some type of choice. It is the decision to be and to feel, regardless of circumstances.

Stop wanting, start feeling

As provocative or unrealistic as it may sound, the people and things we end up chasing will never make us happy until we find that happiness within.

Same for feelings of freedom, joy, hope, adventure, excitement, bliss. You name it.

Don’t be the person who chases things. Chase feelings instead. But here’s the thing — feelings don’t really need to be chased if you can allow them!

Visualization, manifesting, affirmations — every psychological practice or technique aimed at reaching a certain goal is nothing but a way to feel a certain way.

Specifically, the feelings you are seeking in the outer world (e.g. in material items) that actually originate in the inner world (e.g. a healthy self-esteem or belief about yourself).
