“You become what you feed your mind.”
Write it in your journal. Set it as a wallpaper on your phone. Read it again and again until it sinks in.
Because it’s one of the fundamental truths of personal development and positive thinking.
Your mind absorbs information whether you like it or not, whether you are aware of it or not.
Make it a goal to consciously feed your mind, to cultivate the positive so that you are immune to negativity.
“Consciously” is the key word here. You want to feed your mind and your soul consciously, deliberately, with a purpose.
Your mind is very easily influenced
It’s not like you can turn off your mind at will. It’d be pretty cool being able to do so, but it’s impossible.
I mean, meditation and mindfulness can train you to have more control over the mind, but that’s about it. And you can’t be in a meditative, contemplative state 24/7 anyway.
You want to realize that your mind absorbs what it sees, what it perceives; it doesn’t have a filter.
Disturbing pictures or videos will stress the mind even though rationally we know they are not real.
Being around toxic people will affect our mental wellbeing no matter how emotionally detached we may be.
And even the person who’s exceptionally smart will eventually become stupid if they keep absorbing a certain kind of content.
Your mind is very, very easily influenced. You want to guard it, you want to protect it.
Better yet, feed your mind the right way. Feed it with positivity. Feed it with images of your goals and dreams.
Feed it with your passions, the people you love, knowledge, fun stuff, interesting stuff, inspiring stuff.
You become what you feed your mind

Your thoughts become your feelings; your feelings lead to certain actions, which will lead to certain outcomes or results.
Everything begins in your mind, so you want to carefully select the content you consume, what you perceive, what you feed your mind.
Because all that will result in certain feelings, and then those feelings will determine the quality of your whole life.
It’s a bit like a chain reaction over which you have little to no control. You do have control, however, over the things you feed your mind with.
The thoughts and images you feed your mind with determine the direction in which you head toward; once the direction is set, it’s difficult to shift it.
Through conscious practices such as setting mindful intentions, you get to change the starting point — the mind, the thoughts — so it will be more likely to reach the right destination — a better life.
